Virta named one of TIME Magazine’s top green tech companies of 2025
Virta, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging and energy platforms, has been recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the world's top green tech companies for 2025.
The ranking evaluates companies by their positive environmental impact, financial strength and ability to innovate. Virta reached 32nd position on the list of 250 companies.
For the first time, TIME Magazine and Statista, a global data and business intelligence platform, are awarding “World’s Top GreenTech Companies”. The ranking is built on three pillars: positive environmental impact, innovation drive and financial strength. In each of these three dimensions, a company received scores which were combined into the final score.
For the evaluation of the positive environmental impact, Statista assessed factors such as the quality and impact of the company's product and service portfolio as well as the expertise of their leadership team. For the evaluation of the financial strength, Statista analysed revenue, employee and funding data. For the evaluation of the innovation drive, Statista analysed the quantity and value of a company’s intellectual property portfolio.
The 250 companies with the highest score were awarded as the World’s Top GreenTech Companies 2025. Statista gathered and analysed data for over 8,100 companies through desk research, online forms and collaborations with data and market intelligent companies.
Jussi Palola, Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Virta, underscores Virta's innovation and patents:
"With Virta's customers, we built a 3100 MW power charging network —bigger than the world’s largest nuclear reactor. This is powered by the Virta platform and a real-time energy control at virtual power plant scale. It’s bold tech innovations like this that’s earned us a spot on TIME’s list of the World’s Top GreenTech Innovators and we are pleased to be in it.”
To be recognised as one of World’s Top GreenTech Companies 2025 the following requirements had to be met: The company primarily focuses on developing and providing green technologies, products or services that help mitigate or reverse the impact of human activities on the environment and the company achieved an overall score among the top 250. The first place in the TIME Magazine list was taken by BETA Technologies, a US-based manufacturer of battery-powered aircraft.
