What is carbon credit trading?
As fossil fuel suppliers are legally required to reduce their emissions, they can do so in two ways. Either by selling more lower-emission fuels or by purchasing carbon credits from third parties, like charge point operators.
How does carbon credit trading work?
Virta bundles carbon credits of several CPOs based on the kWh charged and sells them to fossil fuel suppliers. The charging data is automatically taken from Virta Hub, and the profit is paid out to the CPO on a pro-rata basis.

With 50,000 kWh charged in a year, your payout could be €1,500 to €2,500, depending on which country your charge points are in.
